Shay, the founder, knows firsthand the pressures that come with being a part of a first responder family. Balancing demanding work schedules with family life can be overwhelming, and children often need extra support, care, and guidance outside of school hours. Driven by her background in criminal justice and childcare, her passion for helping others and her love for education and creative programming, she founded The Ridgehouse Academy to fill this critical gap .
The RIDGEHOUSE Academy exist because family deserve more than just childcare – they deserve a safe, nurturing and engaging space where children can thrive, learn, and feel supported. RIDGEHOUSE’S vision is to provide programs that are not only practical but meaningful, empowering children and their families while strengthening the community around them. Before and Aftercare Programs: Our Before and Aftercare programs extend our support beyond regular childcare hours, ensuring a seamless transition for children before and after school, with engaging activities and supervision.
Flexible Scheduling Options: We understand the demands of shift work. Our flexible scheduling options accommodate varying work hours, providing convenience and peace of mind for first responder families.
Youth Afterschool Services (12-17 years): Tailored for older children, our Youth Afterschool Services offer a structured and supportive environment for teens aged 12 to 17, promoting personal growth, social interaction, and academic support, to include professional development and academic pathway opportunities.
Community-Centered Activities: Engaging children in community service projects, leadership activities, and diversity-focused lessons, we instill values of teamwork, service, and integrity, fostering a sense of belonging and social responsibility.
Challenge Coin Program: Our unique Challenge Coin Program rewards children for positive behavior, teamwork, and leadership, encouraging goal setting and pride in their achievements, mirroring the traditions of law enforcement and the military.
